Wistron has been very active in investing in green energy recently, and it is expected that it will recycle in the four fields of chassis, battery, PCB and glass in the future. Huangbaizhen, general manager and chief operating officer of Wistron, said that green energy business and after-sales service are two separate businesses. He expects that from next 2011, at least the first three years will be in the investment stage, and there will be no significant revenue and profit contribution.
Starting to cooperate with Jialong, a metal recycling plant, in 2009 is the first step for Wistron in the green energy business. Huang Baihui pointed out that the cooperation with Jialong is mainly on PCB. The second step of their plan will be shell recycling, which will start with the recycling of plastic shells. However, he would not disclose who the partner is. He only said that the shell recycling plant will be located in Kunshan, and it is expected that the construction of the plant will not be completed until the third quarter of next year. However, other glass and battery recycling businesses have not yet started actual action.
He said that in addition to existing customers, they also hope to undertake the recycling business of major brand factories around the world.
At present, there are about 30-40 people in the green energy business department of Wistron. He said that the vast majority of the 600 people recruited in the first half of 2010 and the 1000 people expected to be recruited in the second half of 2010 are R & D personnel, and they also hope to find more green energy talents.
